The Firm
Origin
El Hachem Law Firm was founded in Beirut in 1978 by Assaf El Hachem. Assaf El Hachem was a respected litigator, known for his integrity, leadership, and courage in the profession. He built the firm on careful preparation, independence of judgment, and a clear sense of duty toward his clients and the law.
At a difficult time in Lebanon’s history, his work reflected the role he believed a lawyer should play: defending rights, standing by institutions, and taking principled positions when required. Following his passing in 2012, the firm continued through its second generation and now extends into the third.
The practice has evolved across generations, but its foundation remains unchanged: integrity in every mandate, loyalty to clients’ interests, and legal work carried out with discipline, discretion, and an uncompromising standard of professional conduct.
Continuity
The firm now extends across three generations.
Nay El Hachem leads El Hachem Law Firm as Managing Partner, bringing more than 27 years of legal experience across advisory and dispute mandates. Under her leadership, the firm strengthened its litigation foundation while expanding its corporate, regulatory, and transactional advisory work across Lebanon and the wider region.
Parallel to this evolution, Anthony El Hachem developed his practice across Saudi Arabia and the GCC, combining private practice with senior in-house governance leadership within a global professional services firm. His work spanned cross-border disputes, regulatory matters, institutional risk oversight, and multidisciplinary team leadership across high-stakes environments.
In 2026, the firm formalised this expanded capability through IMPACT - Risk, Governance & Crisis Advisory, extending the firm’s institutional work into enterprise risk architecture and board-level governance advisory across the GCC and wider region.
May El Hachem represents the third generation of the firm, combining Beirut-based legal education with international academic training in law and finance while completing her legal training in Beirut.
Across generations, the firm has evolved in capability while preserving its founding discipline: careful preparation, professional discretion, and responsibility toward clients’ interests.
Two Practices, One Firm
El Hachem Law Firm operates through two connected practices.
General Legal Services covers litigation, corporate advisory, banking, real estate, regulatory, and transactional work.
IMPACT covers enterprise risk, governance architecture, legal and regulatory exposure, and crisis governance for boards and executive leadership.
Both practices operate under one institutional standard: defined scope, senior legal judgment, clear documentation, disciplined escalation, and professional accountability. Where a mandate requires coordination across both practices, the firm acts as one. Where separation is required by mandate, client interest, or professional rule, that separation is preserved and recorded.
Geography
The firm's home practice is Beirut. Its client base extends across Lebanon and the wider MENA region, with recurring work in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, and Jordan.
Members of the firm are admitted to the Beirut Bar Association and coordinate with counsel of record in jurisdictions requiring local admission.
